Where to walk in the historical part of Kyiv.
Kyiv is a huge city full of attractions: historical, cultural, architectural, natural, and gastronomic too. It would take a lot of time to see even half of them. If you come for a couple of days, don't try to do all at once. Take a walk on the historic part of the city. Even if you fail to examine everything in detail, you will definitely feel the spirit of the city. And do not rush, Kyiv does not like it.
We suggest to start your route from the St.Volodymyr's Cathedral - it is right near the metro station "University". All that is around is the so-called Upper City (historically it was called that because it is located on a hill). Here is the whole main history of Kyiv, from Kyivan Rus to the Soviet era.
Then get down to the Lower city - Podil. This is the most bright part of Kyiv. You can go there by different routes. We suggest two ways: through Vozdvizhenka (having examined the St. Sophia Cathedral, turn in the direction of Velyka Zhytomyrska street) or through Andriivsky Descent (after St. Sophia's Cathedral, go straight along Vladimirskaya Street).
Having walked in Podil, get back up by funicular - it will be faster.
Of course, you can vary the route as you like, divide it into several days and even go backwards.
In each of the city's districts we have found interesting places where you can have a tasty breakfast, a snack or a quiet dinner, depending on where and at what time of the day you were hungry.
Walk and enjoy- Kiev is worth it!
